Case Study

PhD student

What is your research area?

Biophysical and systems biological analysis of protein aggregation in Alzheimer's disease and ageing.

How does Labstep help your research?

Labstep makes me save time in protocols involving many little steps to complete; it makes it easier and less tedious to track the progression of an experiment; it combines the rigour of a laboratory book and the versatility of a notebook.

What reservations did you have using Labstep, if any?

At first, I was a bit concerned by some roughness in the design of the platform (e.g. the lack of basic functions for categorising protocols and so on), but it was adapted quite dynamically after the input from users.

If you had one 'Surviving Science' tip what would it be?

If a piece of code is not working, or you don’t know how to analyse a piece of data, take a step back, have a cup of tea and a walk to boost your mental energies and focus.

"Labstep has been great with helping me keep accurate records of my formulations. It records all my work session and saves me time from going back to fill in records."
